This Thursday, February 6th, 2025, marks the first anniversary of the grand opening of the Moore-Morris History and Culture Center! We’re bursting with pride as we reflect on the incredible journey of bringing this vision to life and sharing it with our community and visitors from near and far.

However, this wasn’t just about opening a building; it was about opening a conversation. A conversation between the past and the present, between the artifacts and living portraits on display and the people walking through our doors. We wanted to create a place where history wasn’t just something you read about, but something you feel. A place where the whispers of generations past can still be heard, mingling with the laughter and curiosity of today.

And what a conversation it’s been! We’ve seen families gathered around exhibits, their faces lit up with discovery. We’ve watched school groups wide-eyed, absorbing the tales of the people who shaped our community. We’ve welcomed history buffs, local residents, and out-of-town guests, all eager to connect with the stories that make Williamson County unique.

We’ve also fostered a thriving community among our Active Members, who share a passion for history and a desire to support our mission. If you’re not a member yet, we invite you to JOIN TODAY and become part of this special group!

Developed in collaboration with Vanderbilt University and esteemed local historians, the Center offers a state-of-the-art, immersive experience. From the stories of indigenous peoples to the history of evolving townscapes to the narratives of modern-day Middle Tennessee, the engaging exhibits bring our history to life. We’ve been thrilled to see visitors of all ages connecting with the past in such a meaningful way.

But the Moore-Morris History and Culture Center isn’t just a place for quiet reflection. It’s a place for celebration, too! We’ve seen these halls transformed into elegant event spaces, echoing with music, laughter, and the clinking of glasses. From weddings and rehearsal dinners to corporate gatherings and community mixers, we’ve been thrilled to share this beautiful space with so many. Twenty-six events in our first year – a testament to the Center’s versatility and charm! Learn more about HOSTING YOUR NEXT EVENT at the Center.

“This past year has been an incredible experience,” says Nat Taylor, Managing Director at the Moore-Morris History and Culture Center. “Showcasing our wonderful Center to the public and seeing their reactions has been truly rewarding. We’ve been so fortunate to welcome so many visitors and guests, and we’re excited to continue sharing the stories of our region for years to come.”

And the feedback speaks for itself! As one visitor shared in a survey, “The staff was wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly. This is the only museum that enables the visitor to sit down, enjoy the environment, and feel “at home” with the history.” That’s exactly the kind of experience we strive to create.

But our story doesn’t end here. In fact, it’s just the beginning. We have big plans for the future, with dreams of new exhibits, engaging programs, and even more ways to bring history to life. But we can’t do it alone.

That’s where you come in.

We invite you to be a part of the next chapter of the Moore-Morris History and Culture Center.
